We all like a long and relaxing showering moment once in a few weeks. But most of us understand that using a lot of water when showering is not really necessary for our daily routine. The average Dutch person consumes approximately 120 litres per person per day. This is a very big difference from how much they consumed in 1990, which was 227 litres.
Although it seems that people have control their daily water consumption, everything change when they go on holiday. People consume 70% more water when they are on holiday. Because for most this is their time to relax, and why not spend more time under the shower right? Well if everyone thinks this way then we are normalizing long showers. Even on holidays, you need to understand it is not right to take half-hour showers if not necessary. You may not pay the bills, but you are paying the consequences it has on our planet. When you are using hot water it cost a lot of energy. And energy consumption is one of the most harmful things to the environment. But of course, you can relax on your holiday by taking a shower. Only try to make sure you are not wasting too much water.
